Thirty-four lettters from Thackeray to his friends the Perry sisters. Many of the letters concern Thackeray's relationship with their mutual friends, Rev. William Henry Brookfield and Brookfield's wife Jane. Other principal topics are Thackeray's lecture tours and other travels, his writings, and other mutual friends. Also present are six small drawings by Thackeray; a photographic copy of a letter from him to the Perrys, not present in the original; a manuscript in an unidentified hand of a Christmas poem attributed to Thackeray, 1848; a letter from his daughter Anne Thackeray Ritchie to a bookdealer, probably J. Pearson, 1902, enclosed in a letter from Pearson's to William H. Lambert; a catalog from the sale of Kate Perry's collection at Sotheby's; and a newspaper clipping about the sale.
